Metro North Train was going 82 mph on a 30 mph speed limit curve.

metro train

It was reported the day following the terrible accident on the border of New York City that the Metro North train that killed 4 passengers and left many more terribly injured was going 50 miles per hour above the recommended speed limit for the curve where the train derailed. Whether the brakes failed, or the train operator was not paying attention, either way the MTA is responsible for the accident and injuries to all involved. Many people are still in the hospital being treated from this accident. Federal investigators are proceeding with their investigation, but further inquiry will continue during lawsuits against the MTA for negligent conduct.
